Red stimulates and creates moods of warmth and passion. It is a sign of intelligence. It also increases appetite so it works well in a dining room.

Orange, warm but friendly and welcoming, works well in living rooms and family rooms.

Yellow, sunny and welcoming, is great for lighting up any dark areas of the house such as hallways and foyers.

Blue makes us feel calm and relaxed so it works well in bedrooms and bathrooms. Blue also suppresses appetite.

Green is relaxing and natural. Very versatile- light greens for bedrooms, living rooms; mids for kitchens and dining rooms.

Purple connotes opulence and sophistication. Great for dining rooms, bedrooms and studies.

Earth tones colors works great in any room and is very easy to decorate around.

Choosing a Sheen or Gloss

Flat: No sheen, not very washable, touches up easily, hides imperfections, perfect for ceilings and walls with alot of imperfections.

Matte: Very slight sheen close to flat, usually only comes in higher grades of paint. usually reasonably washable after curing, doesn't highlight imperfections very much, excellent for walls.

Eggshell: Light to moderate sheen, higher grades of paint are usually reasonably washable aftering curing, can highlight imperfections depending on lighting, excellent for all walls in reasonably good condition.

Satin: Moderate sheen, usually reasonably after curing, would highlight imperfections on walls, enamel is excellent for trim, wall paint should generally only be used in kitchens and bathrooms.

Semi-Gloss: Definite sheen, usually washably after curing, would highlight imperfections on walls, enamel is excellent for trim, wall paint should generally only be used in kitchens and bathrooms.

Gloss: Basically the same as High Gloss. Some companies use the term interchangeably but sometimes gloss can have slightly less sheen than high gloss.

High Gloss: Very high sheen , generally very durable and washable, excellent for trim and furniture.
